According to a
new Fox News poll, Rudy Giuliani continues to hold a wide lead over his competition in the Republican field. Since the previous poll in late March, Giuliani has only lost 1 point, while John McCain, his closest competitor, has lost 4. Fred Thompson, the darling of those who were seeking an alternative to the top three candidates, has fallen from 10% to 8%, running behind no-chance Newt Gingrich.
An extremely good sign for the former New York Mayor is his 48% to 18% lead among Republican respondents. Among independents, he leads 34% to 22%. In addition, Giuliani has very high favorable ratings – 55%.
